Abstract

Organizations today operate in turbulent environments, which requires a high concentration of managers in order to obtain competitive advantages that ensure sustainability and competitiveness. This need, in turn, triggers the rapid identification of alternatives at the lowest possible cost, in order to fulfill the strategy and the achievement of success. Considering the importance of Human Resources (HR), this work aims to analyse the contribution of HR strategy to competitiveness. Thus, the focus of the work is on human resources, which are even defined as the unit of analysis of this study. The strategic management of human resources includes their development and respective practices. In this context, HR Development includes, among others, motivation, talent management, management and the knowledge process for innovation. These topics are analysed as drivers for the creation of innovation in organisations, as well as for the achievement of sustainable competitive advantage. Based on the above-mentioned variables, this work of a conceptual nature aims to highlight the variables related to HR, namely motivation, talent management, knowledge management process and innovation, which have been proven to play a major role in organisational strategy.
This study complements an existing gap in the current literature, due to the fact that few studies present these topics as interdependent. Sustained in this research, the aim is to guide both academics and managers with regard to HR strategy.
