Abstract

The level of digitalization of public services, a permanent requirement of government agencies, is anchored to citizenship and democracy, where organizations and professionals try to respond to social needs, in order to make their users’ access to services less bureaucratic, more transparent, satisfying your needs and exceeding your expectations.
Considering the theme of e-Government and its implication in the health sector, this study aims to reflect on practices of e-Government at the Local Health Unit of Guarda. 
The most prominent results revealed that respondents perceive the importance of Information and Communication Technologies in the provision of health care, with a concern for the modernization of the sector and the improvement of services provided. 
Homogeneity was found in the opinion about the fact that the main objective in health is to ensure the availability, integrity and confidentiality of assets, as quickly and safely as possible. Regarding cybersecurity and cyber hygiene issues, respondents do not have a formed opinion about the institution’s cybersecurity policies Local Health Unit of Guarda employees do not fail to mention that more than technology, the health sector in Portugal needs other things to function, such as hotel equipment and humanization of care.
